Freemasons are taught to practise charity and to care not only for their own Brethren (and their families), but also for the community in general – both by charitable giving, and by the voluntary efforts of the Brethren.

From its earliest days, Freemasonry has been concerned with the care of orphans, the sick and the aged. This work continues today.

In previous years Beaver Lodge has regularly donated money to the Hospiz Organisation in Soest as well as supporting (by donating money to) the Grand Lodge of British Freemasons in Germany Charity Fund which also receives donations from the other 16 British Lodges under their direction, allowing them to make larger contributions to other worthy causes.
